Posting with Muut is easy and fast! Just click on the textbox to either create a new topic or reply in an existing thread or comment group. After finished typing your post click the “Post” button and you’re ready to go!
Muut posts are permanent. However, immediately after posting you’ll notice a little “Undo” pencil. Only available for a short time after posting (2m42s), pressing “Undo” reverts your contribution. It’s like you never hit “Post!” You can then spend as long as you like recrafting your message, editing and correcting spelling mistakes. Or you can delete it entirely. Shiny!
You only have a limited amount of time to edit or delete your post. We do this to help maintain the integrity of the conversation. Deleting and editing in online communities often leads to legibility decreasing the older a conversation gets. To read more about permanence, why it matters check out our Manifesto.
A short deadline for editing or deleting contributions stems from our belief that permanence matters in online discussions. But why 2m42s?
We love math, and as it turns out our favorite constant, Euler’s Number, was a perfect fit, giving contributors 2.7 minutes to edit/delete. It’s a little irrational of us, but since permanence is integral to the Muut experience we went with a number we loved: e
You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. - Capt. Malcolm Reynolds
More than 1 trillion digits long e (like π) is a famous irrational constant. That means we can estimate the number, but we can never give an exact answer. Plus, It's just cool. Would you like to know more? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_(mathematical_constant)
